Brainstormin' 440 vs 5.9 ...

-
I’ve attached a photo that replicates my budget.

If I had the 2500~3000 I’d give a Dyno session a shot on a max effort build, but that’s not my lane.

That’s pretty close. Isnt that out of one of the Chrysler books? If so, tires and chassis have gotten far better since that was calculated.

But it’s really close.

It’s also funny (in the weird sense of it) to watch guys running really quick with low MPH. Any underpowered chassis can do that. And then they sit around and ignore the fact that the engine is down on power.

Or guys looking at both MPH and ET and trying to figure out if it’s chassis or engine or both.

Well no. The better ET does not always win.

I was closest to my dial this year and lost on my light. SOB I caught that BB Superbee flogging the mighty 340!

Yes.

I’ve got a mill at the machine shop right now and I was offered a Dyno session. But the piston/ring set is 1800. So I’m on the sideline.

Regardless, the Dyno information that people have posted has gotten me closer to where I wanna be.

OK guys, I’ve seen the measures of people will go and it is beyond reason. We have 2000 hp tube chassis cars running slower than my duster, and now we have Wallace measuring shift points and garden tractors doing 5 mph. It’s been fun and we’ve had our sarcasm, but I just gotta move on. No disrespect to anyone, but I’m concluding my posts about Dyno and Wallace. Thank you all! I will move on to where we left off, and that is the RV 440 and my truck. Thank you again.

I’m out.

I can’t deal with simple minded people.

I love when people say they're done with a thread only to keep posting. :poke:

And then they tell others to get over it…LOL. Absolutely the inability to see themselves yet. It will be everyone else that will be the problem. Me? I love what I do, I love how I do it, and I enjoy this more than people know.

If Tim would just move on but he won’t. He wants the last dig.

It doesn’t bother me. He’s way out of his lane and got exposed.
A lot of people on this site are like that, unfortunately. It used to not be like that and probably what's driven so many good guys away from this place.

True… True. Some even say that they are done with it and that they’re leaving, only to post 48 more times in the next hour.

How long is recess..?

When I was in high school auto shop everyone was fk'n around in the bays and my instructor broke it up. He turned and asked; "what about you?"

"Is there something we can work on;" I asked. That gentleman taught me how to face valves and grind seats with a Sioux. Never forget his kindness...

I've read MANY articles on that and the consensus was the runner dents made no difference.
If You look at both intakes I posted, there's more going on than just the runner dent fix, and I disagree with that anyways......it may make no difference in some cases, not all. But You are welcome to DM Me any & all articles You have links to, I'm glad to read all available info out there.

I will tell you this, anyone that says all the 500 Dyno horses showed up at the track would not touch anything under the hood of my car. I don’t care what they claim for experience, and I don’t care what they’ve seen. I actually think it’s funny myself. I need to make a shirt that says dynohorses don’t race lol and mail him one.
Can you show me the dyno sheet for the motor in the truck with the heads that are on it now and the valve train that it has now? I can't find it in any of his videos. The dyno sheet that this entire disagreement is based on.

No, and it may not exist. I believe he took out the E St. heads by Eddie, and put on some mildly ported stealth heads. I believe that is the only change in the engine. The engine with the E St. heads made 530 or something like that.

I like watching Joes videos. It seems like he knows what he's doing to me. Lot of reasons the engine could be making the measured output and not be showing it at the track. Dragging brakes, bent rear end, bad front end alignment, etc. I get the impression that Joe has a lot of projects going on and threw this truck together to have a little fun. I'm sure if he went over it with a fine toothed comb, he could find more et/mph in it. As Forrest Gump said, "That's all I got to say about that". This thread has become silly.

I love calculators… and why not take this the other way? How about a car actually runs faster with the calculator than what the Dino said? How come the track is always a worse condition than the Dino?
Could be because the calculators are calculating under perfect conditions and a car that is operating at 100% efficiency.

E street heads were fully ported by Ed's machine. Replaced heads with mild ported stealth. Cam from .580 lift to .540 lift. According to Joe. Couldn't find anywhere where this new combination was redynoed. No dyno sheet no dyno numbers. This whole disagreement is based on the fact that the dyno numbers are either right or wrong based on a dyno session that never happened as far as I can tell.

I don’t know, as I stated, I don’t really watch Dino videos. I just know that Joe Dynos engines, and he said in multiple videos, 500 hp 406. I’m not going to take the time to dig through a bunch of videos or call him or anything like that. I didn’t have to use his truck in particular. Joe gave two more examples where the horsepower didn’t show up either, but we’re closer. And there’s many other examples out there too. I used Joe’s truck because I knew I wouldn’t offend him and he wanted me to use it.
