Brainstormin' 440 vs 5.9 ...

-
No no no you gotta put it in with the stock bottom end to show all these guys how miserable an RV 440 is.
I am kinda wondering.... LOL. That would be fun, take guesses on a stock RV 440 in the truck. Probably get everything in guesses from 16.9 all the way down to a fried mind guessing 11.2's :D

What's the cr ?
Look, the last time I had verified CR the engine fell on it's face and croaked a miserable ET slip. I told myself... "ain't doing that no more... that cost HP "
In all seriousness, you should know by now I don't have the numbers and stuff you post. I post ET slips... the only number I understand. All else is spitt'n chick'n if it don't stop the clock. :)

Be lucky if the 383 was 9.1, I've had several factory 68 383 that were at zero deck or slightly proud.
383's were all over the place up to about 70. Some were as low as 8.1

I haven't the faintest... lol
You remember the low compression 440 Jim Laroy did the pulls on and then made some mods. I think the lowest was a blueprinted 7.35:1 if I remember. He got respectable numbers after making some changes, but the compression stayed the same, until he put some closed chamber heads on it. Even still, it was barely 8:1.

Competition Products is right up in Oshkosh, WI. I believe they do the valve job in house.

I watched a cast iron headed (906) - stock stroke 440 in a Dart go 10.50's with 3.55 gears. Solid cam, 850 Holley, pretty impressive for a car that could be driven on the street.
