TT5.9mag
Two atmospheres are better than one
I’m betting my money on the 5.9
Sounds like you two need to name the terms of the agreement and (electronically) shake hands.I wouldn't bet too much

I'm talking long term as the project progresses, equal progression the 440 is hard to beat.Sounds like you two need to name the terms of the agreement and (electronically) shake hands.
Why not? I’m trying to WIN BIG!! *extends hand* or are ya scared? HeheheI wouldn't bet too much
But it’s not and it never was. If it was a blown 426 hemi and a slant 6 we’d be having a different conversation also, but it’s not.If it were a 68 magnum 440 and a 73 360
We all know with money and time that a 440 can be built to make more power than a junkyard 5.9 with a cam. Thats not news.I'm talking long term as the project progresses, equal progression the 440 is hard to beat.
That's a hot rod cam for a 318... they are in the .3XX lift range. Actually, I think the cam he listed may be a spec hotter than the RV cam, but I may be wrong...If there ever was a broomstick, that's it.
I don't see how a 440 can even idle with that.
I am not afraid of where we are. I'm cheering for the truck, which means I'll give the 440 everything I got to give it it's best shot. But here we are.
1977What year 440 is that again? I’ll pull my P chassis manual and bring up some specs here.
The net 195 hp version. lol1977
But, before we go any farther, let’s go back and look at the prior example given to us early on in the thread. Stock low compression 440, stock cam, 750 Edelbrock carburetor, 1-3/4 tube headers, and an M1 single plane.
Get a proper timing curve in there with all the advance in at around 3500. Even with the extra weight of the big block, it’ll almost certainly have to break into the 13s.

My manual is a 1972 with 440-3 specs, so not a true apples to apples comparison. Camshaft specs appear milder than the Melling SPD11 stock replacement camshaft.

I believe the earlier year 440's, though not the HP version, still didn't have their pistons down the hole as far as the later models. I could be wrong. I certainly am not the expert here. But, before we go any farther, let’s go back and look at the prior example given to us early on in the thread. that's gross hp, not hard to believe with headers and single plane intake311HP/422Tq
How far down hole did the pistons measure in the ‘77? Given the compression numbers, it probably would make the most power by way of thermal efficiency on pump 87.I believe the earlier year 440's, though not the HP version, still didn't have their pistons down the hole as far as the later models. didn't measure them. BUT... had some good mopar people on my channel said their's measure 200 thousands down the hole. Actually, two different guys said 200 thousandsHow far down hole did the pistons measure in the ‘77? I would expect over 300 gross with headers.that's gross hp, not hard to believe with headers and single plane intake
I do have 3.91's in the duster I could borrow. 29" tire. Hughes off the shelf converter. Then we come to the issue of it being out of breath with the 4.30? Gear. Now bring in the double edged sword of the 3.23 not being enough gear. How tall of a tire is this thing on again? Stock convertor? If it goes ANYWHERE in the 13s I’ll PayPal 20 bucks to whoever got closest on the guess.

And, I'll pay for the gas, the entry fee, the food, etc.....![]()

I've already said my number was just thrown out for a number. Get over yourself already.I’m flabbergasted at the 13 second range guesses. Do these guys know you’re not running the 1/8?
Generous of you. And I'm going to try hard to make you spend your 20 .. LOL. Gears are the only thing I plan to change if it runs out of lungs at 800 ft or something. Should be fun!!Borrow what you must. My offer to the winner still stands if it’s in the 13 second range.
