One of things I use brake cleaner for is cleaning up any spillage of brake fluid.
So I was a bit surprised when it looked like the CRC non-chlor (green can) was removing paint.
But I wasn't sure until this past Sat when I gave a quick washdown of the master cylinder after changing brake fluid. The edges of the cover removed all doubt.
from now on I'll use the CRC non-chlorinated for washing dust out of drums but not anything else.
