Breather Cleaning

I got my new breather caps from Keith and a I was just wondering how I can make sure they are clean on the inside? These are original one nipple breather caps. What can I use that won't hurt the filter? and What exactly is inside a breather cap cotton, or paper?

I think that purple power could soak safely. It can be used on clothes so cotton wont deteriorate, paper wouldnt last 40 years anyway.

the cap that I took apart had like a nylon fiber in it.so you could clean it with any thing.I soaked mine in the parts cleaner renced it with water and then used a can of carburetor cleaner to finish then blue the hell out of them with air.........Artie
