I went with these bulbs and they are dimmable with the knob. They are pricy but I’m hoping Sylvania is a cut above the no name LEDs on amazon. I only replaced the gauge lighting not things like turn signals, high beam indicator, oil and brake light

Let us know if it works..!I have leds in the '72 Dart, they are no brighter, has a new headlight switch. May try the jumping the rheostat trick.
Just be sure to put the input voltage to the input side of the instrument fuse. I believe that is the side opposite from the fuse block screw.
