Bucket Slider Hardware - What is this??

I'm refurbishing a set of bucket seat sliders and am just wondering what this "tag" is for. Each side has one and it's hooked on the cross wire that connects the slider lever pivot arms/latches.

What are these for??

That goes to the front of the bucket seat. The hole in the tab goes to a hook that is screwed into the seat frame.

Indeed, it keeps the wire where it needs to be and from falling off if stretched out too much, they are needed...

Thanks guys. That makes sense. I plan on using the slider brackets with a set of Procar seats, so I may just have to make up a couple custom length tie wires to ensure they function properly. Thanks again.
