Bullet turn signal indicators lens removal

How the &%$&# do these come out?
The right side came out easy. I unscrewed it and was able to pull the lens out with two picks
I unscrewed the lens on the left side and it will not stick out far enough to grab onto. It seems like the rubber o-ring is holding it in.

Any tricks of the trade?

I'm assuming you have the later version with the screwdriver slot? If so, I use one of those screw starter tools that go into the slot and lock onto it. A bit of WD40 sprayed into the socket helps too. With the ones without the slot, and sometimes with the ones with, some masking tape attached to the lens sometimes works too.

Yes, it is the slot kind. Tape is a good idea. The screw starter tool is also a excellent idea, but after 50 years the lens is a bit brittle.
