Watching Married with Children this morning, episode with Al losing the red Dodge in the carwash, and noticed when Al was in the trunk the Dodge, actually a gold 72 Plymouth, with some serious rust in the rear quarters, had a nice pristine build sheet stuck in the seat springs. It does bring up the question if these cars originally had the cardboard divider between the trunk and the seat.

I don't think it was true cardboard - more of a pressed fiberboard kinda thing - a piece that was a little stiffer than the stuff they used for the package tray

crap, I've looked through you tube and cant find it. episode is Al losing the car in the car wash and Jefferson is working there. I see in your pic the car was gold. In this episode they had it sprayed red
