Been busy as hell recently. Raced on 4th of July weekend. Raced my demon and my dad’s roadrunner Saturday. Lost second round in the demon Saturday but took my dad’s roadrunner to the semi final in no box. 6th round. Super fun day.

Come back home, had a 727 to rebuild for a racer which we knocked out last Wednesday. Over the weekend went to my engine builders shop and worked with him on getting a 622” big block finished for our close friend so he can get it out before the Mopar race at 42. Worked Saturday and Sunday on that.

Now onto this week, a racer had a trans failure in his Ford Mustang equipped with a C4 trans. Gotta get it apart and get it fixed while working my regular job this weekend as well. Another customer dropping off a 727 to be overhauled and upgraded this weekend for his GTX which my friend and I built a 505 stroker for last year.

My dad got pushrods measured for me to complete my father in law’s BBC. Got them ordered and they show up today. Gotta get that buttoned up and in the car as soon as possible.

Only have 2.5 weeks before we all take off for the Mopar Madness race at Dragway 42. Still gotta service my car, check valves, change oil, rotate slicks. Truck needs an oil change and tire rotation. Also gotta get my dad’s intake off of his roadrunner to do some work to the valley plate as well as checking his valves, rotate his slicks, and change oil.

It’s nice to be busy but it sure sucks when it all happens at once.

Photos of the 622” engine after we got a pushrod length and laid the intake on to see if any modifications need done.

you got a lot going on. the 622 looks like a beast
It runs good. The other cylinder heads were 17 or 18 years old and finally gave up last season. So these are new heads, and new pistons, plus machine work and everything for a freshen.

Nice work, I'll see if the schedule allows me to come down to 42 for the day and look around.

I wish Indy would have made a shorter runner version of that intake, They do work pretty OK but I'm sure that'd pick up nice with something different. If he doesn't have carbs for that, I have fancy pair of APD 4500 1150's I won't be using...

Thanks for the offer, he actually has two Holley 1050s for it that were used years ago and he currently runs two Bob Book dominators on it, unsure of the size but they’re big. I will see if anyone has any interest in one or both of the APD 1150s.

I saw what you are doing to that intake on moparts for your predator setup. That is gonna be SWEEEEET

I hope you're right! I think it'll have enough to crack a high-7 at it's new legal weight IN GOOD conditions. That's the goal anyway.

Dreaming is good for inspiration! I'll work-up a thread on here soon enough. In the meantime, it's nice to see team RJ raising the bar on Mopar performance.
Well thanks guys. I can’t take credit although I’m certainly an invested member of the team, but we sure do work hard to get everyone to the track together.

By the way Sean. Me and Tim have Danny’s 572 at his shop with the heads he bought from you and we are getting it prepped for assembly. Gonna be an interesting combo.

Rj you guys do a nice job & the cars sure show it .

Thanks Korie. Can’t wait to hear the results of your project. I hope you’re making some headway.
Thanks RJ, yes I'm trying my best making a little progress but it is slowed this summer for 7 days a week working. I'm going to start getting up a few hours early to get out when it's cool.

Our hours were 11:00pm- 4:00am 3days during the week and moved next door to make money @ 7:00 am after a cat nap.
Weekends were usually a 48 hr endeavor.

Those heads were done out of Modern probably around 2005 and they weren't his biggest port or bore size. Because they weren't 'cnc' castings there were areas that the program didn't touch and I remember still when I picked them up he told me... "leave those areas alone!!!" lol They worked pretty good but there's more in them. I'm thinking without a dish piston it'll be over 15:1. Now that I'm typing I do have a cam that would work with 113 lsa 4/7 swap .48x" lobe and about 285 @ 050 but it's 55mm which is 'fixable'.

Yes we could have easily got it to 15:1 with the flat top piston we got and a .040 gasket. We went with a .045 gasket to drop the compression just under 15:1 so Danny felt safer running 112. Tim ultimately decided not to do anything to the heads and run them as is. And when it comes in for overhaul, maybe tweak them a little bit then. But being that they ran so good on your setup, they’re going on as is lol.

Oh boy that cam would sure be interesting. Especially with the 4/7 swap and 113 LSA.
