Hey everyone, i am wondering if i should buy a BG Speed Demon 650 or try and tune my existing Street Avenger. The problem i have with my existing carb is that if im on the freeway or just cruising it and leave it in low gear or in drive and floor it, the car hesitates and then goes but if i ease into it and slowly put it to the floor i have no problem. I just want the car to be more responsive and stop the hesitation. Also the only reason i would like to buy a new carb is that my brother and close friend bought these carbs and had the same holley i had before and never look back and recommend the Speed Demon. Anyone running a 650 Speed Demon? anyone have the same problem with their carb and found a solution?

P.S. As far as tuning goes i am thinking maybe getting a different pump cam, bigger squirters and seeing if that does anything. Or Should i change the jets before anything else?
Thanks, Anthony

o and by the way the carb is a 670 Holley Street Avenger that is about 5 years old. it was on my brothers nova and now on my car. i dunno if this helps but my combo is this

Holley Street Avenger 670
Edelbrock Air gap intake
Ported X Heads
TTI Headers
All comp valvetrain
MSD ignition everything w/6al
Comp Cam XE284
727 w/ shitft kit
3.55 gears
TCI torque converter stalls at 2600

Sounds like your accelerator pump ain't working. Pull the air filter and stroke the carb linkage, you should see fuel being squirted into the primary throats. I've run several Speed Demons with no problems but I would try to get your's working properly first, it's a lot cheaper.

Take the time to tune it. Trail and error is the pathway to knowledge.

Signed, a guy that kind of still sucks at tuning a carb, but is getting better day by day.

hey demon seed: just did that right now and yes the fuel does spray without a problem so that takes care of that so should i look into playing with the cam, spring, bleeds? or any other ideas?

not enough carb IMHO.
I'd go with a 750dp Speed Demon on a combo like yours.
