even if the profits go elsewhere, at least made in the u.s.a. means we have a job. when toyota closed their plant in fremont california, that directly affected me because as an electrician there was a lot of work there.

i agree. thats why i laugh when guys ***** about toyota and honda. they employ a couple hundred thousand people in this country.

Profit does pay salaries, which get invested back into the economy. Even CAT which started this thread does 50% of its business overseas, so there is positive aspects to global trade.

If it makes anyone feel better, Canadian manufactures are struggling. My last employer shut down Canadian production and moved it to Kansas.
