I have a 1979 360LA motor in my Duster. As far as I can tell other than a edelbrock performer intake, a Holley street Avenger carb. (650?) K&N filter and flowmaster mufflers, (stock manifolds), its completely stock. I dont want to do anything like boreing the engine or swapping heads or pistons or anything like that to it. I just want to put in a cam that will match those other parts and give me a decent sounding lopey idle and boost performance a little bit. Any Suggestions?

Comp Cam Thumper, thats what they are designed for, (lopey idle) I have one and apparently the ONLY one that has one in their LA motor around here. love mine I would go with the first type thumper. there are 3 versions. and roller ones too.

Yes, Comp cams has Thumpers in Hyd and Hyd roller. This will be right up your alley for what your looking for.

Some of the whiplash cams from Hughs might be good too. They are designed to work with stock low comression mopar engines.

IF they had one smaller, I'd go for that one. I'd have to look at the line up again. I don't know it by heart.
AND, in all honesty, if your going as far as to change a cam, it's only a few more blots to pull the heads. New valves seals are a few dollors and a head milling will get the C-ratio up a tad to help in the power dept. and also the sound dept. It'll have a nicer "Punch" sound with a head mill. The '79 mill is low on it's C-ratio.

yep thats the one I have in mine, they say you need to use dual springs, i have singles with a damper thats comp cams, can't remember the number, but they are good for up to .500 and this cam is .486 and .473. that way you don't have to take a spring out when you run it in, with duals you have to take the inside spring out to run in the cam. AND USE COMP CAM"S BREAKIN OIL
