Got a 440 that I will be building for my duster. It a forge crank out of a early 70s Winnebago. It'll be a budget build with the stock heads, stock bottom end. Just plan on changing the camshaft, clean up the heads, maybe some pocket porting and possibly milling them. Then of course change the intake, carb, and headers. Just wanting your input on what cam I should run. The last engine I had was a mild build 360 with way way too big of a camshaft and it sounded great but ran like dog butt. This 440 is just for cruising around town and having fun. Might take it to the strip a few times. I'd love to sink a ton of money into this but I'm in the process of buying a house. Thanks

My kind of guy. Both cam/ lifter sets, under 120.00. The slightly hotter grind:

Slightly rumpy at idle, likes 3:55 gears.
A sweet daily driver grind,used this in 400 4x4's.

New valve springs recommended on any higher than stock lift cam. You stated budget, not more budget than these. If you have a little more coin, Check out a Howard's Cam's CL 720031-12: 269/277 @.050/112 lobe centers/ .446.465 lift. A Lunati Voodoo262 or Comp Cams XE262 are newer better grinds,a c note more. Good luck.

My budget for a cam is in the 250-300 range. My lovely fiancé got me a $200 summit gift card for my bday. I just didn't want to get something too big that would rob more power than it made. I'm fine with changing valve springs. The intakes I have are the stock 4 bbl, an offy dual quad, or I can get my hands on a single plane cheap. I'd like to run the offy but I also don't want to over fuel it. The offy is a low rise.
