I picked up my new 1971 Demon yesterday and am working to figure out what is original to the car. The vin on the dashboard decodes the engine as a 225 slant six. Can anyone decode these numbers stamped on the block? The first picture is of the number on the pad behind the alternator (3W225 4350), and the second picture is from the pad below the rear spark plug (3C251410).

3: 1973 model year
W: Windsor engine plant
225: Self explanatory
4330: Engine assembled on 5 June 1973

The stamping at the rear would match the latter part of the car's VIN if the engine were original to the car.

Since we're talking about the VIN:

L: Dart
L: Low trim/price class
29: Fastback (Dart Sport)
C: 225 engine
1: 1971 model year
B: Built at Hamtramck (or if that's a D, at Belvidere)
136582: Vehicle serial number

Oh wow, thank you very much for the super fast replies. So the engine and trans are not original to the car (but are original to each other because they both have the same vin), too bad. Coincidentally, the number on the trans is also double stamped like on the block (3?251410). I'm guessing one person stamps them both after they are bolted together at the factory.
