It looks to me like a later 360 (mid to late 80's) intake because of the small thermostat housing and the heater hose that comes out in the middle of the water crossover. There should be a casting number on the back of the intake. From the view you show that looks like a casting date to the left of the thermostat housing but I can't read it.

The date is 3/16/83

this motor is going to get #302 heads and a cam upgrade, I'm looking for 300-325 HP, should I ditch this in favor of a Edelbrock performer?

It's a 318 btw

The performer intake ports will match the #302 heads better than the stock 360 intake so I believe the performer would be worth the switch.

I got a good one for ya, the previous owner put a pair of heads on it with air tube holes and put a drivers side exhaust manifold without the airtubes, and left the tube holes unsealed.

Beyond annoying, I have it in my garage, tearing out the interior do do some floor pan fixes, so I won't be driving it until I change intake, heads and cam.

It's really amazing the stuff you have to fix when you first get a car, most of it are previous owners "fixes" :)
