I was just looking for a positive wire, and the positive wire for the coil seems to be the closest one. So can I just attach both positive wires to the coil, or would that be bad?

Thanks!

That has a tendency to cause voltage weirdness with the ignition system. It'd be better to run a tap from something else that is only energized with the switch in the "run" position. My brain is still sleeping and I'd have to bust out a schematic to advise further. If nobody chimes in shortly, I'll get heavily caffeinated and do some digging.

+ wire going to your coil is not 12v... it is going through a resistor to drop the voltage down. You could take it off the side of your resistor that is coming from the key switch, that is 12 v.

I connect mine to the resisted side of the ballast, it slows the opening of the choke some. I've had to add a ballast in line to the elec choke before too, cause the full 12 volts opened it too fast. You'll have to experiment with that.
