i want a 71 air breather (the kind with the two holes in front with the pie plate). unfortunately, those are a bit pricey even for ones that need restored. but i want something other than just a chrome lid. so im wondering if a lid a breather that takes a pie tin will fit and look right on top of a 14" air cleaner.

basically i just want to swap lids on my chrome air cleaner with a black one with pie tin. make sense? its late and im tired.

i know the factory filter is less than 14 in. it wouldnt be using a factory filter. just lid. so really i need to know the diameter of a lid. it would use the factory lid on top of an air cleaner to fit the lid.

basically this style lid

thats pretty much what im wanting to do. anybody elses input on going about it would be appreciated.

any paticular reason why? it looks cool tho lol and i have done many things just cuz they look cool lol

just because the 1971 style ones are pretty high priced. this way it still looks stockish, but can be done pretty cheap. ive been looking and you can find just plain ole 4 bbl breathers for like 10-20 bucks vs. over a couple hundred for the stock 71 style.

im going to do mine in the black wrinkle coat and use a pie tin instead of engine color and decal.

plus it looks cool 8)
