What year is your car? Stock steering? Judging by the K-member, it's a '73-6 model which uses the 228 stamped pan.

It’s a 1970 Satellite. But has a 340 and I don’t have history on the pan. I assumed the stamping would provide the ID but I guess not?

The pictured oil pan with the number "88" visible is Chrysler part number 4006387 (388) which was originally equipped on the following vehicles:
- 1976-1979 B-bodies
- 1979-1981 R-bodies
- 1976-1980 F-bodies
- 1980-1983 J-bodies
- 1977-1986 M-bodies

It does fit in earlier bodies/chassis as well.

Yes it fits its a 73 340 block. Thank you. I wanted to find out about the dip stick compatibility.

My dip stick tube is close to 8” and my stick is 16”. Is this incorrect? Ive read several threads but some believe it or not conflicting. I think it’s an aftermarket dip stick and not correct.

Dipsticks and tubes can vary, but for this style passenger car oil pan, with the ~8 inch tube, the dipstick is ~16 inches from the tip to the end where it meets the handle. The "full" mark is about 1.5 inch from the tip.

The dipstick tube overall is a little shorter than 8 inches, with about 6.75 inches outside the block above the flange, and the remaining length is the portion inside the block hole.

The dipstick handle lengths can vary in the amount of reach, but doesn't affect the measuring portion..

The following image shows the aforementioned dipstick and matching tube:

Thanks good information! My measurements of the tube was flange at block up to the top. Just shy of 8 inches as best I could tell.
