Hello i have a 1965 dodge dart /6 and am having electric problems such as everytime i want to drive at night the battery drains quick and it came out to be my new alternator is burning out my also new voltage regulator, I have heard that you can bypass the voltage regulator with a alternator that has one wire direct to the battery. any suggestions on what would be the best type of alternator? thanks for any advice

Why not fix what you have? You COULD get a "one wire," but these systems are easily "fixable."

I had a similar problem on a 63 Dart. After 3 or 4 regulators and a couple of alternators, it was a short in the field wire. When I would try to fix it would work for a while and then stop charging when the wire would short again and take out the regulator.

That type of alternator has an internal regulator. Summit, Jegs has them. Power master is probably the most popular brand.
