Could I run the car safely if I cap off the vacuum line to the power brake booster? I am installing the tunnel rams this weekend and I noticed that there are no vacuum ports other that the vacuum advance on the carbs. I would have to drill and tap the tunnel rams to get the vacuum that I would need to supply the brake booster and I really don't want to modify the tunnel rams.

To do this safely you really should switch to manual brakes. Your right foot will thank you too. A rebuilt master cylinder will run $30-$40 and you should be able to pick up a pedal pushrod here for less than $30. I would send you one but I sent my last spare to a member here. You may even be able to trade your power setup for a manual one. Just my $.02.

If you are running enough cam to make that tunnel ram work, you won't have enough vacuum for power brakes anyhow.

Convert to manual.

I kinda figured the vacuum would be to low for the booster. Sounds like the conversion to manual brakes is pretty simple, master cylinder and push rod only? Everything should bolt right up? If this is all it needs I'll buy new for the parts. Sounds like it would be the way to go.
As for the cam... it is supposed to have a mild cam but I have my doubts. Appears to be the stock 360 cam. I can run the tunnel rams with this cam being careful not to drop the throttle too quickly. But.. I will be replacing the cam. Any suggestions to keep it as a sreetable weekender?
