car show questions

That's a cool looking Dart. It's mighty clean. Looks like your daughter got hold of the swag bag. I agree with Barbee.

I took mine out to a car club picnic today. My wife is out of town so after it cools off tonight I plan to plug in the ol' iPod and just take a drive to see where it takes me.

Have fun driving your Dart!

Thank you! My little one carried that bag all night! I hope you had a fun drive!

Great pics...you have one happy daughter there !

Our car shows tend to be small here ..and the number of mopars is even smaller..

I think if you like what you are driving..regardless of what you see, it is perfect..

We had a survivor but we wanted more...the car was modded for us, not the viewing public..

I like it when the owner has done the majority if work...I will spend far more time with that car than the dude that has had a big resto by brand X garage.. but that is my thing..

I really am proud to have her! We named her Daisy! I'm excited to fix her up and learn a lot in the process!

We just got back from the show a bit ago, and it was a lot of fun! There were a lot of cool cars there, and the girls had fun seeing them! We didn't win any awards, but that's alright! I talked to so many people! They all like our dart, and it was fun to hear their stories of their past cars! I met a man that might help me learn more about fixing the car up! He was nice! I got a lot of tips on how to stop and prevent new rust, I needed those! It's funny that you said that us poor guys have to be creative! I don't work outside the home, but I do sew for others. I make quilts, and some crocheted animals, and my friends buy them. I'm saving up for body work on the dart! I'll get there someday soon! I used to want another baby, but I'm over that now! This car doesn't wake me up in the middle of the night, and it doesn't talk back!
Thank you all for your encouragement! I don't think I would've gone, if you hadn't said that I should! :)

Best post I've read here in a while!! Puts a smile on my face to hear that you're enjoying your car, and that the girls went along too!! I must add that the car cleaned up beautifully!! Keep up the good work!! Geof

My son and I bonded over working on my cars and I signed my '74 Plymouth over to him when he graduated college three years ago. He almost has it ready for paint.

This is a great thread. Reminds me why we got into this - for the pleasure of driving the car and I would be proud to drive that beauty!

I had a great drive last night. It was 104 during the day so I rolled down all the windows and took off just as the sun was setting. Such a beautiful time of day. Put on some old Tom Petty and headed for the hills.

We picked up a '70 convertible bug for my wife so that's our current project. When it gets running and the bugs are all out of it, the first order of business will be a trip down HWY 1 along the coast with the top down.

Have fun.

Thank you Geof! We'll keep going, learning, and having fun together! I let a little girl sit in the car and asked if she'd ever pushed the buttons for the radio, she hadn't, so I told her to try them out! Those buttons are fun to push!

That's great that your son has a great car to work on, I'm sure it'll be a beauty when it's painted! Your drive sounds fun and relaxing! I should do that more often! Wow, I bet the drive along the coast is amazing! I hope that little bug doesn't give you too much trouble, and you can enjoy your drive soon!

Terrific!
I am glad you have the car and you're showing it! There are going to be people who are going to tell you that you have something wrong. Don't sweat it, they don't have a car. I have a 4 door Dart also, I get a lot of "my dad/grandpa had one of those" and then they walk off happy with a memory. That's cool with me!
What part of Indiana you in? We may cross paths.

It's your car! Be proud of it. You work on it, you take care of it. I tried to find a picture of this old 50's vette, ragged out for sure. Glass is dry, interior is shot, but it's a cool car all the same. Had the original 327 in it. Last time I saw it, last year, the guy went and put a crate 350 in it..... So point is whether it's all original, or all fancied up, IT'S YOURS!!

Thank you GunBunny! I love hearing people's stories of their past cars! I'm in Henry county, the second county east of Indy!

Thank you Loui70Dart! I bet it's cool! I think that's the best part! My little old car is mine, I'm so happy to have it! I make quilts, and my headliner is gone in my car. My husband thinks it'd be neat if I made something to put up there! Who knows, I might give it a try! I can change it out if I don't like it!

That's the spirit.

One of the things that make this hobby what it is, make the car your own.

Hmmm, a quilted headliner.... Probably will help the car stay warmer in the winter, that is if you plan on driving it in the winter. Also should help keep noise down. Thanks goes to you CC!

Thanks guys! I watched some videos on how to replace the headliner, and it's seems a little daunting! I might be just fine to drive around with it ugly for a while!

From what I've learned from my wife it's much like having a baby. While you're doing it, you swear never again. Then a few months later as you're admiring the finished product, you begin to think, "Maybe..."

Just do it, you might not win any trophies, but being at the show is fun, i enter my '74 dart, i was in a minor accident, so its drivers quarter is dented, its tan paint is covered in primer and dust, and the engine bay is COVERED in forty year old grime.
But i enter so i can hang out with other car people, not to win anything
