650 will be just fine. They came with Thermoquads from the factory.
Nigel, fetch my fainting couch, for i seem to have over carburettored myself!
meh. just wire the 2ndaries shut and you'll be in like flynn. We will see. It may be the biggest pig that ever pigged. Before I settled on a Venturi size I did quite a bit of math. I suck at math so refer to the above, but if somehow my scientific notation calculator didnt hose me I should be pooping in tall cotton.
Yup. You didn't know how to tune. Mistake. Remember. Chrysler slammed 800 (That's EIGHT HUNDRED) CFM Thermoquads on millions (Read that again, MILLIONS) of STONE STOCK 318s right from the factory. The AVS is a VERY similar carburetor having a secondary air regulator door. If someone can't tune a 650 AVS to run very well on a 318, there's something wrong and it AIN'T with the carburetor.Been down that exact road. Drag race tested. 600 eddy, 600 QFT vac and 650 avs2 on a 360. No mistake being made here.
Never. It's never been done. How will I ever make two 830 CFM Holley clones work on 340 inches?
LOLmeh. just wire the 2ndaries shut and you'll be in like flynn.
ah, yes... drag racing... the only method by which the selection of a carburetor should be made.Been down that exact road. Drag race tested. 600 eddy, 600 QFT vac and 650 avs2 on a 360. No mistake being made here.
The why not tell the op to do that? How about skip the avs2 and go 1050 dominator? The car will still run like **** but you can say you have a dom!How will I ever make two 830 CFM Holley clones work on 340 inches?
Better method then you have correct? Whats your reasoning? Somebody said?ah, yes... drag racing... the only method by which the selection of a carburetor should be made.
Yeah, I was thinking about that the in the back of my mind during my responses. Dude is just clueless. We're not gonna get through. One wasn't enough, so I put "2" 600's on my 318. Dual Quad 318 Plymouth Duster
I mean, he's not wrong that the 600 would serve it fine, but a 650 certainly isn't too much. I've actually run 750 double pumpers on 318's that I drove every day. It a street car too hence why you need vac secondaries.
If you know how to actually TUNE, you can do that.I mean, he's not wrong that the 600 would serve it fine, but a 650 certainly isn't too much. I've actually run 750 double pumpers on 318's that I drove every day. Ran perfect
I sold my last Holley and all my "tuning" parts in the late 70's. You can keep them, almost any 4 barrel carb makes a better street carb. Same or more power, better mpg, tune it and forget it.600 with vac secondaries. Your car will be happy. 650 eddy on a 318? No way.
