I have an 80 Volare /6 1bbl. The carb is a Holley 1945 with all the emission ports, and the bolt holes for securing the top to the rest are stripped and wallowed out (that way when I got the car). The car runs poorly and many of the vacuum lines are cracked or hooked up wrong. I do not have to pass inspections, so I want to remove as much of the garbage as I can and replace the carb with one without all the extra vacuum ports. Does anyone have a spare 1bbl carter that will hook onto the throttle and kick down cables that they would be willing to part with? This car will be a daily driver for no more than 2 years then it will donate disc brakes to my 62 Valiant so I'm not looking to spend a lot for a super carb. Thanks all.

If I was in your shoes I'd try something like this:

Clean up the carb best you can, "rig" a weight or clamp if necessary, and get the carb top and body nice and clean and dry. When you're ready, and make sure it's "right" assemble the thing with JB weld, and clamp/ weight if necessary overnight.
