I have a 64 Barracuda, Slant 6 / Automatic. The carb is a rebuilt unit that worked fairly well when first placed on the engine, but is hard to start now, and stall as soon as put into drive. Idle is fine. I just cleaned and re-gapped the plugs at 35 today. Points should be good, but I will check and replace or file them to be sure.
Problem is in the carb, I believe. I pulled it apart today and it is very clean, but I don't have the specs for the float, and that is where I think the problem is. It is clean, and free, but may be set too high (or low?). Would that cause the carb to essentially kill the engine? And would the problem be too high or too low? Carb is a 1bbl Rochester (or Ball and Ball - I forget).
