I am going to rebuild my Holley 750 cfm double pumper. What cleaning fluid are you using in your ultrasonic cleaner? 65

Pine Sol and Distilled water, heat the water up hot.

About 4 tbsp of Pine-Sol to 2 gallons water.

Have to be careful and watch it. Too much Pine-Sol and or too much time in the Ultrasonic Cleaner can turn the carb body aluminum gray. Not reversible when that happens.

The newer Edelbrocks have a shiny finish that cleans up well and does not turn gray.

What else are you folks using?

Pine sold will turn color if in too long. But what is too long? A Wildcard gamble I won't be doing. Need a piece with same plating to sacrifice.

I've used pine-sol to clean parts before. Need to be careful! 65

Depends on the carb material (zinc or aluminum and the coating) and what needs to be cleaned off.

Using ultrasound makes very low concentrations of cleaning agents in water act as if they are much more concentrated. In fact, just plain water cleans amazingly well. A tablespoon of laundry detergent and an ounce of spray carb cleaner in 4 gallons of water removes grease so well it is almost spooky. Cleaners which contain Sodium Metasilicate are excellent for carbs and small parts because Sodium Metasilicate does not attack aluminum or zinc like Sodium Hydroxide which will eat aluminum. Ultrasonic cleaners are easy to use and the cleaners to use in them are all water based and water rinsed.

I had one and could never get it to work. It was the machine itself, not the cleaner. If I ever get another I will shop around for the proper cleaning solution so as not to ruin any aluminum parts. I know some have use Simple Green, but it's not safe on aluminum, either. I am actually soda blasting them now and it works very well. Gets them very clean and the soda turns to dust and only needs to be blown off.
