Who use them and why

Can it help me

Yesterdays was pretty hot close to 30*
When for a ride with the duster and the engine began to act some kind of weird
Like it was to lean and few second later to rich and the accelerator pump
Wasn't working at all or should I say not like it work normally

Stop for shopping with the wife it took about 1 hour and we took the road again
After maybe 3/4 of hour it did the same so when I arrived at home I took a look
Didn't see nothing wrong took off the air filter (engine still running) I heat the gas pedal
A few time and the gas was going out by the vent tube

So I tough the float level was to high but everything was find
I'd remove the front bowl to see if something was wrong but ounce
Again every thing was find

Could it be to much hot air under the hood causing this
The engine was 195* but with second speed of the fan on (ferd contour setup)

Today Id restart the engine and everything was find but its aloe cooler today

Any idea???

Thanks Bob

The float stuck & a bit of dirt in the carb, thats what I think. Sounds like a similar happening to me one day.

I pulled into a 7-11 one day and the second before I pulled in, the car did just what you describe. Acting funny out of no where. Hit the gas and the response was a lame return, way way down on power. Opened up the hood to see the drivers header super bright cherry red.

Took off the air cleaner, reved it up, shoved my hands over the carb and choked it out.
(After several tries and a few good hits to the side of the carb) Started it back up and it was fine. You could hear it run better. Header glow went away in 3 seconds.

Regardless of whether the carburetor got trash in it or what else happened, run a heat shield. It's a good idea.

That s what i thought

It can't hurt

But the part number I found was for cheby
And don't wanna have a cheby part on my Plymouth

Cost me a lot last year to built a 742 case instead of getting a 9 inch so...

That's because it's not.
