carpet installation question

Finishing up the carpet installation on my 69 cuda. On the door sill area, does the carpet lap over the pinch weld or do you lop it off even with the top of the pinch weld? There was no carpet in my car when I bought it so I have no way of knowing. Did not want to booger up my aluminum sill plates by doing it wrong.

I would say to the lip weld , but i think my dart sport is a little over , there is new legendary carpet in it.

Yes allow it to overhang the pinch weld as the factory did it. Years ago on my 67 Dart the bodyshop installed the carpet and cut it too short.Movement getting in and out of the car the carpet would pull away from under the seal plate. Ended up pulling and glueing the carpet but still pulled away. Installed new carpet the right way and problem solved.

Up over the pinch weld and down only to the bottom. Sill plates designed to retain just that much floor covering. If carpet extends out onto the horizontal surface it will hold the sill plate up and possibley wick water.
