I have a carter AFB 4131S from a 1966 Chrysler new Yorker with a 440.

The question is: did these carbs change much from 66 to 68? other than the obvious change of AFB to AVS and the air cleaner opening being a different size.

what is the difference between an AFB and AVS??

If I used this carb on my 68 would I be losing anything over finding a correct 68 carb?

I am looking to build a 68 440 with all stock parts and to be put into a stock appearing 68 car.

Carter AVS Very similar to the AFB, except that the control of secondaries is accomplished by a spring-loaded flap, rather than counterweighted butterflies. Similar CFM rating?...similar performance.

ok, the impression I get is not too much difference in function and performance.

seems like the AVS is just a evolved version.
