I was digging through my garage today trying(it didn't work) to clear some space to walk in and found my old bunch of tq's (2) and an avs
I remember one of my tq's being on my old 340 but for the life of me I can;t remember what the cfm was or which one was on it and I'll be putting that one on the 318 I'm stuffing back into the wife's dart . the carter AVS came of a 440 newyorker I think,
here's the numbers for these carbs,
AVS 4966s 70531 on the tag (I think it's in the 650 cfm)
tq 48735 g 0201
tq 9046 s 2764
can anyone tell me the year and cfm? thanks

4966 is a 71 440 auto

couldn't find 4873 TQ
although a 4973 is a 71 340 auto?

9046 is a 75 400 AT

Re-look at the TQ numbers.

Measure the throttle plates for the AVS.

Will do... just the front throttle plate correct?

I could have miss-typed the 48 instead of 49, I did have a 71 340 auto cuda.
and one of the carbs I took off and stashed is from it. wasn't much left after a young kid stole it and wrapped it around a tree or 2, he lost it going about 120mph. I was able to save the trans, console, steering column along with assorted little stuff. man I miss that car.

cool thanks.
71 440 was the avs carb
I might of mis typed the 48 instead of the 49 I'll go double check and measure the throttle plates and give those too for all the carbs.

Front and rear throttle plates.

There are 4 comp. TQ's that start with 4 and 2 stock TQ's that start with 4 that I know of.

Measure the primary of the TQ.
At 1-1/2 it is considered the 850.
At 1-3/8, it is considered the 800.

48735 you typed is most likely is 4973 S which is correct for a 71 340 Auto

ok did the tq's and the avs (dang the avs has SMALLLLLL secondaries)
I know none of them are comp carbs. these came off cars I have owned. no race cars here, it's to much money to do that for me now.
best I got is a 383 dual quad challenger 4 spd(going to single 4bbl as soon as I can find a good manifold in my price range)
here's the numbers
tq 49735 = 1 3/8 pri 2 1/4 sec.
tq 9046s = 1 1/2 pri 2 1/4 sec.
avs 4966 = 1 3/8 pri 1 5/8 sec.
man these AVS secondaries look dinky compared to the tq and holley's

Yeah that 49735 is a 4973 S and is correct for 1971 340 Auto trans and has 1-3/8 primaries
The other number is correct 9046 S and is for a 75 400 Auto trans and has 1-1/2 primaries

Sweet thanks
now I'll tag em and bag em so they don't get any worse than they are now.
the 71 340 carb 'll probably get a kit and put on the other v8 dart, whenever I get the 1st one done. the AVS I'll probably clean and kit it to go on the challenger instead of the edelbrock carbs (600cfm) If I can free up the idle screws
