The carb on my 67 barracuda with a non original 318 2 barrel is leaking pretty bad and ive been to 4 or 5 different parts stored to get a kit. Every time they order the wrong one. Not sure of what the engine came out of. The carb is a carter 2bl and the only numbers i can see are 0-2378 under the manufacturers name on the outside of the float bowl. Also 6-2138 on the top of the carb. Any help would be appreciated.

hey guys I have just about the same carb and am looking online to try and identify for a rebuild kit, so far my search as lead here :)
any help?

oh my number says 6-2137 not 6-2138, its on my 69 318

thanks, I'll continue to look

last post on this site says the following

After many hours of research, i have found the kit that i think is needed for your carb, I have the same carb on my truck. it is a carter BBD, Autozone kit number 96-578. They also sell another kit for the carter. tell them you have an 84 dodge truck with a 318 2brl. and they can bring it up for you.

Hello.

I hope you will help me. I need some more pictures of the setup of your carb. I have a 318 with a Carter BBD carburetor like yours and I am putting back together. Can you take a few more pictures of the throttle cable side? I need to see the following:

1. Picture where the throttle cable connects to the linkage.
2. Pic of how the throttle cable is attached to the rear engine bracket.
3. Where the kickdown shaft attaches to the linkage at the rear of the engine.

Thanks if you can do this.

I ordered a kit for that carb also. Haven't picked it up yet so dont know what number was ordered or if it's right. I do know that car has Ball and Ball, Chrysler, etc.. on left side. it is from 67/68 model 273 or 68 318, and uses a thick base spacer/gasket.
The good thing about jiffy Hi-grade carb kits is they cover quite a few slightly different carbs with one kit.

if you got into kragen and tell them you have a 75 dart with a 2 brl 318, they will get you the right kit. its a 7.25 bbd carter post 1974 carb, or some such thing.

Wait, I'm wrong. That carb doesn't have the accelerator pump or bowl vent exiting the top front. Must be even earlier than 67 model.
In fact the more I look at the design the more I think marine application.

Here is another pic for you guys.
Notice where the spring goes to the throttle stud.
It goes on the outside groove. You need a washer and clip at the kickdown rod.
Also, the back of the kickdown rod. There is no cotter pin there. The spring goes in the hole with a washer.
