A little help needed, please. I found a 340 about 100 miles away from me. The owner inherited it and doesn't know much about it. I've been trying to find information on it but nothing comes up....This is all she gave me -- HM340R 36930152. Thank you!!!
 
H = 1972, M = Mound Rd plant, 340 cu in, R = regular gas, 3693 = build date Tuesday, September 7, 1971, 0152 = 152 unit that day.

That is the engine serial number on the front of the block. (Not to be confused with the partial VIN)

H - Series (model year) 1972
M - Mound Road assembly plant
340 - 340 CID
R - Regular fuel recommended
3693 - Engine final assembly date - September 7, 1971 (1972 model year)
0152 - 152nd engine assembled at the plant above on the date above.
 
It's the low compression version.

A friend had one that was a runner at 73,000 miles, we put small valve rhs heads on it that were milled a hair to 62cc, worked great.
 
Find the VIN on block and let people know. Lots of us are looking for blocks from our cars.

Even those doggy 72 340's run pretty good. Definitely when you can boost compression and flow. :thumbsup:
