I have a 1970 dart that I'm going to put a console and bucket seats in to replace the bench seat. Its B7 blue exterior with B7 interior also. I have a black dash pad that I planned on dyeing since the blue pads were on back order. But the black pad on blue dash doesn't look too bad. I also have a new headliner and parcel shelf in B7 blue waiting to go in. I'm planning on keeping with the blue seats and door panels. The door panels are in great shape after 45 years!

But my question is... What color did the consoles come? I've only seen black for sale and white consoles in the HANG 10 dusters. So if I was to have ordered a floor shift console B7 blue interior in 1970. What color would my carpet and console be? I've thought about black carpet, console, kick panels and maybe leave the pad in black. And everything else be factory blue. I think that the white and black interior B bodies look fantastic. But I'm not sure and black and blue.

Let me know what you think and pictures ARE welcome if you have a two tone sort of interior.

Bump. Does anybody know if consoles were ever offered in anything but black?

Awful hard to tell if "restored" cars are 100% correct or not, but from what I've seen the blue interiors were all blue. Blue carpet, console, dash pad, etc...
The consoles typically match the upholstery color, like on the Hang-10, it had white upholstery and a white console.

Consoles come in a bunch of different colors! I have a light green console from a 66 Cuda, have personally seen Blue, Green, Tan, Black, White, and maybe even different shades of each color to match!

Blue interior???? You need a blue console!! Why not find a white one and dye it?? Just clean the heck out of it with lacquer thinner before you dye it!!

Here's a blue console that's been tastefully modified. It belongs to member Mile High Dart

That looks awesome! However I'll go with something closer to factory! I'm not too sharp with custom fit and finish on stuff. I'm pretty impatient. But, I appreciate all of the responces. I guess I've never payed attention to the console color on anything other than black. I HATED my blue interior at first. But it has definatley grown on me and I'm planning on keeping it.

This console came out of a Dart Sport with white interior

I've seen and had several gold ones.

This is what I used to freshen up my original console.

B7 exterior B5 interior but the dash/pad/column/console are all a darker blue.

My 69 Dart Convert was the same color combo. I am doing another 69 Dart convert.
4speed console. Question, the spray bomb can, is it a "paint" or a "dye"? How well does it seem to stick and durability? The color looks great!
Sorry if I high jack the thread a weee bit...I guess the question is related :)

Label says it is paint.

Clean it well!!!! Use a good adhesion promoter like "SEM" and build it in very thin coats. No noticeable hiding of the original texture. It has not been in service long, but sat at least a year before installation so it appears to be pretty tough now.

That looks AWESOME! That's exactly how I'll do it. Keep it all blue and original. Do you ever get tired of ALL of that blue?

Thanx

Loving all the Blue!

It is crisp and refreshing and not Black. It is hard to find parts this color so you have to resurect them.

The belts should be darker as well but nice original ones are hard to find. I did find a company to get them from after I got these, one day I will correct them.
