So who has found certicards for their vehicles? Of those who's had extra labels?

My certicard had info and a company name and address.

So I decided to put the company in google and found an obituary:

Harold succumbed peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital on January 30, 2009 after suffering a stroke at home. Dad was born in Victoria on April 11, 1907 to a pioneer family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 71 years, Audrey; loving children Ian (Carol) and Pam (Monty); grandchildren John (Shaunna), Kari-Anne (Gordon), Heidi (Tim) & Erik and six great grandchildren, one niece and one nephew. Predeceased by brother Stanley and sisters Marjorie, Kathleen and Mary. Harold started at the age of 19 in his father’s business, Arthur E. Haynes Limited, Real Estate & Insurance. He and brother Stanley took the business over in 1936 following the death of their Father and ran it successfully for forty years. He retired in 1977 as a Notary Public when the firm closed.

Hey Drache, all certicards have the "extra" labels on them. You see, the stamped information denotes the VIN, trim, paint, engine, axle, and scheduled production date and are kept with the car as they go out to the selling dealerships. It isn't until the vehicle is sold that the "extra" information is added to connect the car with it's new owner. In your case, the car was purchased by a business and as such has the purchasers name (the real estate business) included on the certicard. It may have been Harolds car, but the real estate and insurance office of Arthur E. Haynes LTD actually purchased the car.

I have both certicards from my 66 Cudas, and both tell the original owners name and address. Its a great bit of information that the later cars don't provide. How many times have you read an article where the owner states that he can only trace the heritage of a car back so far?? With certicards in place, the original owners name and address is there for you to research. Fun wasn't it!!!

I am also currently researching my newest purchase back, and because of the certicard and an old receipt, I have gotten in touch with the original owners family. I am waiting for the chain to lead me to "Aunt Bessie", if she is still alive to shed some light on it's history. Too bad you are a couple years too late to talk to Harold, I bet he would've been a hoot to talk to!! Hope this helps, Geof

Hey Drache, all certicards have the "extra" labels on them.

I've seen 4 others and none of them had the extra labels so I wanted to ask. It's nice that my car is at least somewhat "local" by at least being in the same province it's entire life.

Im guessing the car was purchased either by Harold or his brother Stanley for use as a company car. Sadly both are now passed away.

used to find them all the time in the wrecking yard, they all had the plastic strips glued to them for options i guess....had 4 or 5 from random vehicles

My brother's 65 Fury coupe was a one little old lady owner(now deceased) and came with certicard and every receipt for all servicing and work done to it.
We couldn't get over how many exhaust systems it had had.
Came from Palm Springs.
And the little old lady ordered it with 335hp 383!!!
Although I guess she wasn't so old when she bought it new!!

My certicard is still with car. Quite remarkable I think with me beeing the 17th owner. The card has no info of the first owner. My guess is that the cars exported had no labels with first ownership. And the dealerships in Sweden had their own system to state first ownership. Lucky for me I have managed to search all the owners back to the late summer of 1968. All I needed was to find the correct swedish databases on the net and to what license plate numbers the car had in the past (3 different all together). I still have a 9 month period from 10th November 1967, first date of registration in Sweden, to the summer of 1968 which is blank in my car's history
