Cheap Carter Fuel Pump?

Does anyone have ideas about a basic good fuel pump?

Car will have a 3/8 pick-up in tank and 3/8 fuel line to engine bay.

Engine is a 360 HP Duster motor ('74) rebuilt. With Hughes mild cam, headers, rpm intake, intake adapter, factory TQ, 3" exhaust. 727, 3.55 suregrip. Going back into the Duster.

I was looking at this summit carter basic unit for 34 bucks. Says 120GPH, sounds like alot for the "factory" diameter line ports they have on it. 6.5 psi max. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this one or similar. My main concerns are quality and longevity and also if it will be plenty of fuel volume for the 360. Appears the PSI is correct.

Another concern is that it works with the factory TQ "fuel pump to carburetor" fuel line. Would be nice not to modify the line.

Looks like the standard mechanical fuel pump. Summit list it for small block, but sure looks like the one I took off my slant six a few days ago (changing to electric).

it has screw in fittings so I could use AN fittings, the one your looking at has the conectors already installed and I think they are 5/16, which is oem??
I used to have a carter pump.

i ran the carter hi volume mech fuel pump ran it for 17 years on 3 diff engines and its on my 340 now had to change my fuel line to 3\8 from factory 5/16 then it worked really well i ran the tq carb this pump is also rebuildable but never had to yet
 
I had this problem with a Holley pump even though it's a big block it broke.

So I ordered this Carter from Mancini.

And they make them for small blocks. Not cheap but better flow.

Regulators are really not that much.
A holley one is less than $30.00
I know when I used a carter rebuildable pump on my 440, I had to use a regulator on my holley.

What type of driving?
What is your engine/ carb / car, basic setup?

We have a carter similar on our RB, cant for the life of me remember what it is. On the Mancini Carter, I like the factory pressure, fuel line and the clockable option. Main reason I want mechanical is I dont like noisy humm and buzz electrics, more importantly if a mech fails, I drop in a used Napa unit while on the road. If an elec fails I better have a similar one in the trunk.

Re the Mancini-Carter:
How long does it last? Will it run 50K on street car? Do you have any feed back on this unit?

I just bought one and haven't installed it yet. All I can tell you is look at what happened to my Holley. I know I turned the motor 6000 rpm.
 
Don't let the 5.5-6.5 psi fool you on those carter street/"STRIP" pumps, i have run a few & the lowest one put out 8, my last one drifted to 10.5, you will need a reg. with those, Now Mancini does offer an HP Carter pump for "street" like the old muscle car carter pumps, those i think are rated at 120 but don't require a reg.
 
It seems better to rely on people's experiences than listen to sales people and read marketing literature, so thanks for the input folks.
 
bremereric thats the carter pump i was talking about 17 years and well over 100 thousand miles on a thermoquad and no regulator with no complaints
