Its a lot milder than you'd think. Quick rundown:
Stock pistons turned around in their bores. File fit cast rings. standard deck
Bowl ported head, stock size ports, back faced valves. .100 off the deck
Comp Cams .440/264 solid, stock rockers and pushrods.
Offy intake, 600 AFB, turned to face north/south. .098 primary, .081 secondary jets. Holley Blue Pump and 5 gallon cell.
Stock single point distributor, Accell coil.
Hooker long tube headers.
273 Commando clutch (slant clutch lasted one test hit)
903 3 speed trans with home made Hurst shifter.
7.25 with 4:10 gear and welded spiders.
Car is light...REALLY light. Don't have a weight number, just have not hit the scales with it yet
All steel and real glass, but you can lift any corner of the car off the ground by hand.
Car has a 175 horse nitrous system plumbed in, but it has not been turned on yet. Saving that for a little grudge action and the "good" motor going together over this winter.
Its a fun, basic, old school build.
What are you referring to, stock piston turned around in their ports?

Factory pistons have the pin offset to one side to help reduce piston rock (slap) at T and BDC.
When you turn the piston around backward (notch facing rearward) you reverse the offset and increase torque by reducing the number of degrees past TDC that the rod begins to lean into the direction of crank rotation.

That's interesting to know. I'm fixing to start the tear down on my wife's Tough in Teal Dart, the motor being a big upgrade. I'm keeping the /6 but want to build it up. How reliable is it for street use, rotating the pistons?

Ive done it on every street engine I've ever built for myself over the last 40 years. Never any negative side effects.

The Leaning Tower of POWER!
who doesn't love that little dog? especially when properly fed and cared for, so they can back the bark up with a legit bite!

during the Iraq invasion, we were on BIAP for a few weeks while the dust settled. Being the "car guy" in the group I was tasked with helping move crap around the flight line. Was a nice distraction to get a tug running, and a bread van that had the back chopped into a ute. Both were running a 225 SL6, put a smile on my face.
