ok so i need help choosing a converter and a gear ratio meaing what gears to buy these are my plans

carb:650-700cfm
intake: rpm air gap
cam: still not sure but maybe dur:270/270 lift lift:420/420
headers: hooker comp or super comp maybe tti
exhaust: 2.50 with 2 chambers X pipe
pistons:9.24.1
heads: 88 302 heads with 360 valves

for the converter i was thinking maybe like 2800-3200 and for the gears maybe 3.55 or 3.90

but any help is better then me guessing thanks

before you even think about gears and a converter you have to know 100% what the entire combo is going to be... then it still depends on your intended use...

i agree, converter should be the last thing you buy, after you get everything else you want together. and you get what you pay for, if you get a cheap converter. dont expect much/consistancy from it imo. Been there. I like my 3.91, low gear 904, and 3500footbrake dynamic converter with my 318. I have a .480/280* cam in my 318

well i found a cam i like now its a lunati 292/480 with the lopey idel power from 2500-5500 does this sound like a nice cam

pretty much what i have, i daily drove mine for two years this way. If i had the piston/valve clearance i would up the cam to around .500lift. Never happy! lol. Just my 2cents
