OK, so my wheel has some rust and I took a fine steel wool pad to it with some Coke. The rust was not as bad as it originally appeared to be, or the Coke really does work well.
Now it looks more like brushed aluminum, but I still see chrome there.

Is there a proven method to bring the chrome shine back?

I tried some fine rubbing compound and some chrome polish, by hand- no luck.
My door pulls and bumpers could also use some help.
Any help is appreciated.

someone once told me REALLY fine steel wool and WD-40 will work. I've tried it and it does bring the shine back, but it'll take you awile

Use only 0000 steel wool to polish the chrome, anything coarser will make it look as you described. I've never used Coke with it, just the steel wool. And remember to clean and wax it afterwards, you don't want any of the wool left - it will rust on top of the chrome.

Do this by hand?
Circular motions or straight?
And I will be able to bring back the shine after what I did already with the 0000?

Thank you.

try something called armstrong oil let it set a few days and the rust wipes right off not sure about the use on plastic

You can use either straight or circular motion. I don't know if it'll bring the shine back, but it's worth a try. It may just take a lot of work to get it back.

neverdull is good stuff.

Jewlers rouge can be picked up and working in with a buffing wheel on a Dremel tool. Takes time.. but works well.

Good idea RPM,I think there is a good chance to get that mirror finish back that way.

Thank you all.
