Im' not saying this is the best or only way just something to look at.Safe non toxic and you can do it at home.

The really good quality chrome plating process is no longer done in the US. Or so I was told. It may be illegal or something to do with the poison by-products. If you know of a chrome shop in souther Cal, I have heard that they send their stuff to Mexico to have done there. not my experience, just what I have been told.

The EPA has been implementing more regulations year after year and have basically made it cost prohibitive for the real good chrome shops to stay in business anymore. There are still a few good ones around but you'll definitely pay for it. A couple that come to mind are

I have used www.superfineshine.com out of OH with good results and www.BHplating.com in the Black Hills of South Dakota on a few larger items with excellent results too. I've also had Denver Bumper do a few bumpers that turned out really well.
