I recently brought up a dart from my home in deep Mexico to California and police thought it was a stolen American dart. Because the damn thing had no VIN number. But 1969 Mexidarts have two sets of numbers no vin number. Any information on what to do with it now other than jump out of it going 110 km/h into a target store

I'm looking to register it in California. I understand the whole vin thing started 1967 in u.s.a correct me if I'm wrong.

Not sure what you are referring to.

VINs have been on American cars forever.

In 67 on American built cars yet is a vin rivited to the door puller. (Same as on my 56 Ford pickup)

Later cars moved the vin to the dash area visable through the windshield

On 67 the fender tag does not reference the vin, the engine and trans does not have the vin and the hidden nvers are not the vin.

Later years the vin is stamped in all those places.

Yes I do I have everything from when the car was bought to now
