Cleaned lifters, how long to pump up?

Not a swap, but magnum nonetheless. I bought a '00 1500 with issues (#8 misfire, running way rich, bad plenum gasket), and tore it down to the short block. From the way it looked inside, I'm guessing oil changes weren't done regularly, but it wasn't horrible. I took all the lifters apart and cleaned them, but didn't soak them, along with everything else I pulled off the engine. Installed a set of rebuilt heads, put it all back together (lifters installed correctly, bleed holes up), rolled the engine over with the starter (fuel pump relay pulled), and fired it up. Pretty much every lifter is noisy. Dash says 50# of oil pressure. Ran it twice for a few minutes, then found the upper rad hose leaking at the tstat housing (big surprise), so I'm going to fix that first. How long should it take for the lifters to pump up/ quiet down?
 
Could take a while. You may have to give it a couple slight revs. If the lifter piston never come above the oil hole due to them being dry it Could take a while. I usually squirt some oil in the hole after assembly. They squash down easier then they pump up.

Thanks, I'm thinking now I should've tried to get some oil past the checkball, down around the spring. If they refuse to quiet down, I can pop the intake off to get to them, maybe lube them up a bit. I'd rather not yank the heads to pull them out. Taking tin snips to the head gaskets is supposed to give enough room, but once again, if I don't have to...
 

Why not run the oil pump drive with a drill, rotating the engine with valve covers off to see what's going on instead of pulling intake. Also will be able to tell oil pressure on the gauge. Make sure you use at least 1/2 chuck drill for the power.
 
Other engines I would, but these are miserable to get at. And if I don't get the distributor back in exactly where it was, I'll have to reset the fuel injection sync. With a scanner I don't have.
