Ladies and Gents,

I'm currently rebuilding a HVAC system to retrofit in my car from various pieces and parts. The evaporator unit looks to be fairly gummed up but still functional. Any HVAC experts out there that can advise if there is a solution to cleanse the copper tubing going through the fins of the evaporator and is there a tool to help straighten the fins. This is for a 67 Barracuda although the unit came out of a 72 Dart.

Thanks in advance.

I used coil cleaner from Lowes. Just sprayed it on there blew off with compressed air. You can use a low pressure garden hose and Simple Green get all the loose stuff off first.

^^One big issue with cleaning evaps is to be careful with the hose. Sometimes it does not take much pressure to lay fins over.
