Is there a real honest to goodness 100% STREAK FREE way to clean auto glass? Vixen's windshield is still pretty new, but I have never been able to get it what I call 100% clean and clear. It always ends up with a few streaks and a haze hear and there which is VERY aggravating at night when headlights hit it. ...and I'm not talkin about some made up internet BULLSHIT talkin about vinegar and whatever. None of that CRAP ever works anyway. Right now I use Invisible Glass alcohol based glass cleaner and I've tried everything I can think of to wipe it clean. From newspaper to microfiber cloths to you name it. Nothing has worked 100%.

My dad used to swear by newsprint (black n white not the Sunday funnies) and vinegar solution for mirrors. Ol Andre prevents any translucent surface from being see through so i don’t really try that hard. Lil F@$ker could make a window dirty by just looking at it. Soap/water and a razor blade on the outside might help. I’m actually in the hunt for a later model wiper arm hack that fit updated wiper blades myself…….

Best glass cleaner I have found is AC Delco GM glass cleaner, its even safe for monitors and flat screen TV's. If its really greasy, Ill go with something like Windex with ammonia first, then follow up with the AC. DO NOT use the Windex on monitors or flat screens, its not safe and may damage them.

After some readin I think what the problem is, I've never degreased it. I need to go over it with isopropyl alckeehawl and try it again.

Dawn dish soap and a touch of ammonia, scrub with a washcloth and dry with a towel, finish off with a microfiber towel.

Yeah, I ain't gettin ammonia anywhere near my car glass. I've already had THAT experience. lol

Microfiber cloths and Invisible glass generally work very well for me, not sure what else to suggest.
Totally agree. Invisible Glass is good stuff.
A body shop guy suggested rubbing compound. I have never tried it. Kim
Here is what I do. I use glass cleaner and a good microfiber cloth to get as much dirt off as possible. Then I use a clay bar. Your glass gets just as many contaminants on it as your paint does. If any of you guys have never used a clay bar, go buy one. You need a lubricant for it you will use a detail spray. Maguires and mothers both sell a Clay bar kit that includes a clay bar and a 16 ounce bottle of spray detailer.
Anyway, after clay barring, the glass will be as smooth as a baby's butt. Then clean again with a fresh microfiber towel.
I have used polishing compound in the past. It will also get the contaminants off the glass and leave it smooth. However, since I started using clay bars (about 20 years ago), I just stick with them.

Agree it was allmy dad used, and all i ever use. Streakfree and clean.

I want to clean the drivers side window as it has scratches from debris getting between the window and the cat whiskers? Kim
I use ‘Purple Metal Polish’ that I got from auto parts store. It takes some time (15-20 minutes) per window. Apply it to a cloth and rub with moderate pressure in small circular motion over entire window. Wipe off and clean. You will be amazed. It can remove the finer scratches (fog like) but not deeper ones.
Yote

After I get glass clean, I use turtle wax. You'd be surprised how the wax takes glass to another level, and makes it last cleaner longer because snow doesn't stick to it and water beads off. The wax is also a kind of cleaner. I've waxed windshields before and when i was done, the glass just sparkled

Kind of sounds like you have a grease film left behind.

How did you install the window and rubber seal, WD-40, go-jo hand cleaner, Dawn Dishsoap, silicone spray?

We used to install Peterbilt windshields and the rubber zipper lock with Go-Joe hand cleaner. That left a nasty film behind. We first cleaned the window and rubber with a fast dry enamel reducer (Dupont 3812), I imagine a wax and grease remover pre paint product would work too.

Then we would follow up with Windex and paper towels, changing the paper towels often. Doing the cleaning process twice with the Windex.

Yea I have the same problem with my glass. I picked up this stuff called safeway glass cleaner the stuff works great and cheap I think I got it at Walmart but I see it all over the place

Yeah sounds like you found out grease is on it. Try the alcohol. I use my detail spray and microfibers for my glass. Wizards mist n shine. Works great.

AC Delco GM glass cleaner
I used to swear by this stuff, but the key with it and any glass cleaner is after soaking, scrubbing, wiping, let it haze out and dry.

Then use a clean towel and buff it by hand.

My glass shines, really brings out the scratches and wiper marks.

Recently I added a decal to the top of the windshield, which I had put Rain X on and instructions said remove it.

Interweb spoke and said use acetone.

I used it on the entire windshield and removed dirt I never saw in any driving conditions.

I use either Windex or Sprayway glass cleaner from Dollar Tree and newspaper to clean the car windows with. I use one sheet to clean with and another to dry. I also use RainX on the outsides. I put it on the glass and let it dry, then polish it off. Then I clean the wiper blades and use the RainX on them too.

I believe that's what's goin on. I've never degreased it. I always use liquid dish washing detergent for gasket install.

I'm boycotting that now. It WAS the best. It used to have a cute Susie home maker type on the can but they removed her to appease the leftist, communists, LGBTQABC crowd. So no more for me.
