Cleaning block and parts

-
The end result needs to be as clean and rust/paint/crap free as you can get. My experience has been the best final cleaning step prior to machining is an airless shot cabinet. You need to protect the mian bores and the lifter bores, but aside from that, it takes off the crud even well into the cooking jackets. You have to carefully clean it after, and tap all the bolt holes, but that should be part of the assembly procedure anyway. Hot tanking and jet-washing are degreasing operations more than actualy physical cleaning. Airless shot really strips the parts to clean iron.
