have a 67 dart gt originally 273 floor shift automatic.titled as a 67 with correct vin in door jamb.has a 69 front end with 69 grill.has a 69 340 swinger dash frame and vin installed also fender tag from the 69 340. interior converted from buckets to bench seat column shift..car has a built 318 && 8 3/4 suregrip 3.91 currently painting the car hemi orange as on the fender tag, front discs, frame connector all suspension components rebuilt, never no rust or collision issues. only real issues 69 taillights don't just bolt in.windshield trim different & need to put 69 side markers on rear rear bumper is 69.havet the swinger sway bar &brackets&torison bars so to get everthing on the up&up simple matter to hit the rivets under the dash with a small grinder and lift the vin plate off

Removing the '69 VIN tag might be a good idea as long as you turn it in to your local DMV. You may want to go so far as to have a cop or DMV inspector look over what you have and advise you on what to do...

no vin tag has been removed the complete dash frame installed in the 67

The car is a 67 the hidden vin numbers match the vin in door jamb

If it were switched to a 69 and then you try and sell gets real sticky there.

I would leave it as a titled 67

I believe it is a federal crime to swap a complete dash (with vin) from a 69 and install it in a 67.

Do what ever you want to it just leave the 67 tag alone and in the correct place. Dont ever try to pass it off as something its not.

you wont see many dart clones, except for 68 hemi clones.

really dont matter it's all what you want to drive

there is no big resale value no you aint gonna fix one up and sell to buy a house or somethin

that be the problem .have the 340 swinger with all numbers right.body solid front frame rails bent have all the parts to restore it on the 67. but really not worth the effort and cost.so will probably pop the 69 vin off the 67 shave the front markers&just have a nice generic dart

Plus even if you tried to pass that vin tag off part of the original vin is stamped in the trunk channel on the drivers side under where the weatherstrip would be

So the question is do you relable and misrepresent the '67 as a '69 340, correct? Clone would be a 67 set up like a 69 340. Clones are not illegal. Replacing the numbers and misrepresenting the car is.

messing with dash vin, body numbers that don't match, all this can lead to big fat law suit down the road. state laws differ, but maybe record it as " rebuilt wreck"!!!??????

If it's titled as a 67 put the 67 vin on the dash so you never have issues with the real po-po...

I'd leave the fender tag and laugh at the wannabe's scratching thier heads...tell them it's 1 of 1, or a factory error from a Monday hangover...scribble "Rock" somewhere on the bottom of the car. Have some fun some fun with it, it's just a car!

67 has the vin in the drivers door jamb

Remove the vin from the dash and fill the holes, then it is a 67 dash

68 was the 1st year with vin on the dash

Had a guy ship a car from Germany to sell at the Mecum auction that the numbers didn't match. They ground body everywhere there was hidden vin numbers. Was a nice car but they could not sell it

So if you try to make the 67 a 69 there is legal issues that could land someone in deep do do in the future

If the 69 is repairable sell the 67 and fix the 69

The tail light buckets can be put in a 67 just have to cut and deepen the sheet metal to accept the deeper 69 tail lights, but the title still needs to read 1967

to some extent all 69 mopars are in violation of federal law. side marker lights are required they have reflectors

am going to pop the vin off the dash take the fender tag off and then I have a legit 67 as the vin is in door jamb for this car.then attempt to sell the remains of the 69 swinger with a legit title, vin, with matching trunk rail and radiator support numbers.
