Hello,

Is there some special trick for removing the cluster on a 1969 Dart? Does it just pull out through the front? I think everything is disconnected but it doesn't seem like it wants to come out!

Thanks in advance,

Alan

Make sure you've disconected the following...
Disconnect the Battery first !
Then
headlight switch
wiper switch
Connector on back of guages
Speedo cable
wires for amp guage bolted on back.
Drop the steering column and carefully wiggle it outta there .
Mines a 72 so some of this may be different

There is a cluster of wires that are held in with a clip on the inside of the cluster, behind the speedometer (if I remember correctly). It takes some contorting and finessing to get that loose.

Thanks for the replies!

Does anyone have a pic of the backside of a 1969 cluster?

If you've lowered the steering column and removed all the screws, grab the speedo cable near the firewall and push it toward the dash. It should push the panel out so you can see and reach behind it..

It didn't look like I had to lower the column but I'll give that a whirl in the morning. I'll let you know how it goes.

My son bought me a white face gauge kit for Christmas that I will be installing. Has anyone else tried it?

hmmm looks like i took mine out the hard way. all i did was unscrew the face plate from the cluster housing then pulled them both out without having to lower the steering collum lol

Hope this helps....
