We started on the front suspension of my 71 Dart. I painted the control arms black as well as the strut rods. However after thinking about it I am thinking I should paint the parts the "correct" color???? But what is the correct color of the lower control arms, strut rods (that run from the lower control arm to the K member)? Also what color should the upper control arms be???

Or should I just leave them black and go on down the road??

If your not going for a OEM restoration paint them suckers black...it looks good and will really set off your exterior...

No OE resto here. In fact more of a parts replacement than a "resto". I have had all the trim holes welded up and ground smooth (not just bondo-ed up). Replaced the small bolt pattern rear end with a 4 1/2 bolt rear end. Also adding 4 1/2 bolt disc brake set-up. So it will not even be close to OE correct. But I am just wanting a car that is presentable enough to take to a few cruises and not be embarrassed about my Dart.

you most definatley have nothing to be embarassed about....looks like a clean piece of machinery...you cant beat the weld holes either, more metal less bondo is always good...are you going to run rallye wheels? anyhow a freshening will never hurt anything, it will be a head turner thats for sure...this is my dart, she is getting stripped down this fall for a little paint and motor swap....also my motor is more complete now just havent taken any pics

I bought a set of Weld Pro-Stars to start off with. I use the rallye wheels with some new "el cheapo" tires from Discount Tires on my parts cars. But I figured why not mount them on the Dart while it goes to the bodyshop. Plus I am thinking about having the steel wheel painted red to match the car while they paint the car. That way I would have a set of steelies with dog dishes, rallyes, or Pro-Stars to choose from!!

By the way, thanks for the words of encouragment!!!

I called my Dad today. And I guess the control arms and strut rods will be black. My Dad had already started bolting it back together. I guess I should have done a little more research sooner. Oh well, I think it will still look okay!

as they say...selection is everything on wheels...i guess youll have different wheels for different moods..LOL lookin sharp though!
