I'm going to run a compression test on my 340 this week, Assuming that the short block is still stock (72 low compression 8.5:1 pistons and stock 340 cam) What kind of numbers should I have ?

with engine warm -wide open throttle -4-5 revolutions of the motor comp should show
125-145- with no more than 20 -25 pounds variation between cylinders

when i ran one on my 173k 318 in my 71 dart i was pullin 135-150 on all. and mine smokes at times! so if yours has been kept up it should be around there... mine hasn't been..... i have not been nice to my 71...:burnout:

I would think with a stock cam, you'd still be looking around 140-150 psi.

took my specs right out of the mopar manual ...i've seen guage variations of 20-30 pounds

My stock 318 with rod knock pulled between 130 and 135 on all but one cylinder. It only got to 115.
