Convert console vacuum gauge to tachometer?

Can you take a console vacuum gauge and convert it to a tach? I picked up a nos gauge and was see the housing are the same so I was wondering if you can switch it over?

I have both original tach and vacuum gauge, looks like a no problem swap to me. I have looked at doing the same thing. I was going to install an aftermarket tach in the housing of vacuum gauge. But, I see no issue with the original equip being swapped.

I found this tach rebuild kit on eBay. It comes with the circuit board and tach face, I'm curious if that's all you would need?

no you'd still need the tach. This is a kit to upgrade the tach internals to modern electronics.

Talked to Shannon today. Great guy and said they could do it no problem.

It would be a whole lot easier to just buy a new tachometer. You can get new ones that fit perfectly.

The n85 tach option is so rare to have I couldn't bring myself to put anything but an original on the console.
