Coolant leakage (Barracuda -69)

-
69 340 gts , getting ready for Crusin The Coast in gulfport, ms.8000 registered classics most years, the o ring thermostat housing solved my leaking housing problem, thanks, well of course something else went wrong, the front crank seal started slinging a mist of oil when i put 100 miles this week, motor has only 1000 miles on it. My question is, should i put a product that will swell the seal to get it to stop, or just keep an eye on oil level and replace it when i get back next week from the cruise?

mmmm i had that happen on a 350 engine it was the oilpan lip at the front started leaking... i took permatex.. the right stuff rtv and put it on my finger. (with gloves) and smoothed it into the whole front of that lip... cured for a day or 2 problem solved... now for the crank seal... i dont know if this would work.... TO BE SURE i ordered the florescent additive ..put it in the oil.......... cleaned the area well then ran it to VERIFY where it was leaking from....then i addressed that area.... ARE YOU SURE its not the oil pan lip?

i was responding to his oil leak... maybe he could try the permatex on it... dont know much of the swelling additives... hardly any miles on the car maybe he can locate and fix...

Thanks for the advice, i bit the bullet and removed the timing chain cover and replaced the front seal, my race car is a chevy, i soon discovered that the seal is pressed in from the back of the tc cover, finished installing a few hours ago, the oil was evident on both inner fenders, lined up with the balancer, oh well, tomorrow i will finish up and report back sunday. The seal i removed was not torn , just a little more loser than the new one. Hope this solves the problem, i checked the pcv valve and valve cover breather, dont think i am building any crankcase pressure, hoping i will be crusin sunday:banghead:

I put 20 miles on the 340 today and had no leaks, hoping my problem is solved, heading to Crusin the coast Monday, blood pressure starting to stabilize:finga:
